My girlfriend was recently looking into getting a laptop and so I was looking around at the various options. Because price was an issue I was thinking a clone, or a cheap brand name laptop that I could then stick linux on would be in order. After looking around I realized that even clone laptops aren't cheap. The best I could find for something new was in around $900+ before tax. The other things she wanted in a laptop were small size, and good battery life. Which made finding a good deal even harder. Then I started looking at the iBook's and found they weren't all that expensive and had far better features for what she was looking for. The price on the online apple store was about $1300 before tax so still a little more than she wanted to spend. So I took a look on ebay and found a few. Did some bidding and ended up with the laptop she wanted (12" G4) for $1060 after tax and shipping.
I've never been much of a fan of the Mac interface and the one big button, but after using it a little you really start to get used to it and it does make alot of sense. I'm really quite impressed with it overall. And it's something I would highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a computer that doesn't want to deal with all the problems that seems to arise when using windows. A linux desktop is a good choice as well, but does require a fair amount of knowledge to setup and such which usually leaves me configuring and maintaining it :)
